Did you know you can wear grey jodhpurs to compete at British Showjumping competitions?
Wearing grey breeches or jodhpurs for showjumping instead of the traditional white or beige might seem strange to you. But what are the benefits? Grey jodhpurs are:
- Less likely to show dirty marks;
- Smart enough to not look out of place at the show ground; and
- Suitable for day to day wear, rather than just for shows!
This got us thinking about where else you can wear grey riding breeches. What about for British Eventing or British Dressage competitions? The short answer is, no, you can’t wear either dark or light grey breeches. We investigated the rules and found out that you can only wear grey at British Showjumping competitions and for the cross country phase of British Eventing events.
The full rules are as detailed below:
Breeches/Jodhpurs:
Breeches or jodhpurs must be white, pale yellow, beige, grey or fawn in colour.
Black or Navy are not allowed.
White, buff (beige) or fawn breeches for dressage and showjumping.
For cross country, any colour breeches are allowed. So grey riding leggings would be acceptable!
Breeches or jodhpurs are to be plain white, cream, beige or canary yellow except when worn with official services uniform, when they may be of the uniform colour.
